Equivelents
In one photography lesson. Mr Nicholls gave me 2 recourses. One had a photo which was taken by Alfred Stieglitz and the other one had a 'painting' that was made by Francis Picabia. Below both of the are my annotations that I made for both pieces of art.

Alfred Stieglitz

Alfred Stieglitz is an American photographer, who I have looked at with his photos that are about 'Equivalents'. Alfred Stieglitz, is known as the person who tried to make people accept that photography was an Art form.
Alfred Stieglitz is well known for his 'Equivalents' work with clouds. In his clouds photos, he tended to include in the bottom of the frame or the corner, a small tree branch, which is in Silhouette form because of the bright light behind it.

"The power of the equivalent, so far as the expressive-creative photographer is concerned, lies in the fact that he can convey and evoke feelings about things and situations and events which for some or other are not or can not be photographed. The secret, the catch and the power lies in being able to use the forms and shapes of objects in front of the camera for their expressive-evocative qualities"- Minor White
My Respone
I decided to take photos of things that interest me. These photos were taken with a Canon 550D SLR, however I added an element. I was using manual focus and I wasn't looking all the way down the viewfinder. I was putting my eye close to the viewfinder. But not looking down it. So I could only see the centre section of the image.
Most Impressive PhotoOut of all the photos I got. I think this is one of the better ones. This photo was taken in monochrome by mistake because the previous person was taking photos in Black & White in manual mode. However this seems to of turned into a lucky accident because I don't think this photo would of been as good if it was in colour. The main aspect I like about this image is that you can see this is in silhouette form because the lower half of the image. Is in a darker black/great tone.

Least Impressive PhotoThis is another photo that was accidentally taken in monochrome. I was zoomed in too much and because this photo was in monochrome. That meant that it is too hard for the viewer to focus on anything. Also because of the monochrome effect it is hard to tell if the image is in focus or not because you don't have any colour contrasts to look at. Even thought I'm not impressed with this image there is still one good aspect. I think that the trees and branches create an abstract effect.

I feel that these photos sought of sets the atmosphere of this photo-shoot. It makes the area look like somewhere filled with litter. I'm hoping that people can guess what my emotion was when taking these photos.

Retro Camera
After taking the first lot of photos, I thought I had spent to much time composing the image on my phone, centre of the frame, rule of third
Setting an atsomphere
After my last photo-shoot. Mr Nicholls refreshed my mind about what the objective of the most recent photo-shoot. Mr Nicholls said it was more photographing what you see on the ground and quickly photographing it rather than taking a good image. So I decided to redo this photo-shoot but with my phone. Because there is no focusing. I also decided to use a photography app, rather than the actual camera. I used the app Retro Camera, which is the Android version of Hipstamatic. I used a camera/filter. The specifications of this filter was a low amount of saturation, neutral colours. It had a square border and a few minor scratches, to create a sought of old fashioned, surreal, abstract effect. The filter is known as all-round filter so it can be used to good effect in any occasion whether it is landscape, close up etc. However it is best with portraits.
